Yukon GST rates in 2026

GST5%
  • GST only.
  • Yukon has no territorial sales tax, so 5% GST is the only sales tax on most purchases.
  • The rate follows the place of supply, not where your business is: a Yukon business shipping to a customer in Ontario charges 13% HST, not 5% GST.
  • GST registration becomes compulsory once taxable sales pass $30,000 in a single calendar quarter or over four consecutive quarters. Below that you are a small supplier and registration is optional.
  • GST returns are filed with the Canada Revenue Agency only; there is no separate territorial sales tax return.
  • Specific taxes, such as tobacco and fuel taxes, still apply in Yukon.

How to calculate GST in Yukon

To add tax, multiply the price before tax by 5% and add it on. To find the price before tax inside a total, divide the total by 1.05. Taking 5% off the total gives the wrong answer, because the tax was charged on the smaller pre-tax price.

Tax = Price × 5 ÷ 100 Price before tax = Total ÷ 1.05

Price before tax$250.00
GST at 5%$12.50
Total$262.50
A total of $525.00 includes tax of$25.00
…so the price before tax was$500.00

How sales tax works in Yukon

Yukon has no provincial sales tax, so only the 5% federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) applies to most sales.

Most businesses must register for GST/HST once their taxable sales pass $30,000 over four consecutive calendar quarters. The rate you charge depends on where the supply is made, so a sale delivered to another province uses that province's rate.

What your invoice must show

Business customers need the right details on your invoice to claim back the tax they paid. For sales of $30 or more, show your GST/HST registration number and the total tax charged (or state that the price includes it). For sales of $150 or more, also show the buyer's name, the terms of payment and a description of each item. Our invoice generator has fields for all of these.

Frequently asked questions

What is the GST rate in Yukon?

5% in total.

How do I calculate GST in Yukon?

Multiply the price before tax by 5%. On $100.00, the tax is $5.00 and the total is $105.00.

How do I remove GST from a total in Yukon?

Divide the total by 1.05. On $105.00, that gives $100.00 before tax. Do not take 5% off the total: that gives $99.75, which is wrong.

Do I charge Yukon rates to customers in other provinces?

No. The rate generally depends on where the supply is made, which for goods is usually where the buyer receives them. A sale delivered to another province uses that province's rate.

Results are estimates for general information, not tax or legal advice. Some goods and services are exempt or taxed at other rates. How we check our tools.
