A quote is usually a fixed price for a defined job; an estimate is your best guess, which can change as the work goes on. Say which one you are giving in the notes, and list what is not included so there are no surprises.
Material and supplier prices change. A "valid until" date protects you from being held to an old price months later. Thirty days is common; use less for fast-moving prices.
Customers compare quotes side by side, so make yours easy to read. Break the job into clear lines rather than one lump sum, say exactly what is included, and list what is not, such as permits, materials chosen later or extra visits.
Add your payment terms, for example a deposit before work starts and the balance on completion, and how the customer can accept, such as replying by email or signing and returning the PDF.
Work out your costs first: materials, your time at your hourly rate, travel and any subcontractors. Then add the margin you need. The profit margin and freelance rate calculators on this site help you check the numbers before you send the quote.
Quote total = (Items − Discount) × (1 + Tax rate) + Shipping
